New Research Reports

Performance Management 2016: People Over Process (Industry Perspective)

This is Brandon Hall Group’s signature report on Performance Management for 2016. It offers six critical calls for change in how most organizations are approaching performance management. Based on our research, 72% of organizations rate their performance management approach as “not at all effective” or “somewhat effective.” Only 28% of organizations are getting real business value from performance management, according to our research and Performance Management Business Impact Model. This report offers a people-centric model of success for Performance Management.

KnowledgeGraphic: The State of Women in Leadership

Brandon Hall Group’s Women in Leadership study shows that many companies have a great opportunity to address the shortage of quality leaders by targeting specific development programs for women, who make up half or more of the workforce but dramatically less of senior executive roles. The survey results indicated that the biggest barriers to placing women in senior roles are inadequate management of the leadership pipeline and little, if any, targeted development to grow women’s leadership capabilities.

Performance Management Business Impact Model

This model, based on Brandon Hall Group’s 2016 Performance Management Study, shows the five levels of organizational maturity related to performance management and its impact on the business. 28% of organizations are at Levels 4 and 5 of the model, where the level of performance management practices leads to a competitive advantage or transformational and sustained business success.

Performance Management People-Centric Model

This model, based on 2016 Performance Management research, lays out a system of continuous development to drive individual and organizational performance. The research shows that organizations employing this model are 2½ times more likely to find their performance management effective.

Performance Management Process-Driven Model

This model, based on 2016 Brandon Hall Group Performance Management research, outlines the predominant model for performance management employed by 73% of organizations.

Award-Winning Technology Reviews

These technology reviews – winners of 2015 Brandon Hall Group Excellence in Technology Awards – were released for publication:

Game-Based Learning and Content Authoring with 3DHive.mobi

3DHive.mobi is a complete game-based-learning, content-authoring platform that allows learners and trainers alike to create, share, and play high-quality 3D games. 3DHive.mobi, by Playware Studios Asia of Singapore, makes it possible for non-technical users to create customized 3D games in a point-and-click 2D environment and distribute them to mobile phones. By using gamelets – short-form games lasting no more than 15 minutes – learners are able to assess just-in-time training in highly-contextualized scenarios while on-the-go.

Docebo’s Platform Delivers ‘People-Driven’ Knowledge

Docebo has gone beyond the standard LMS to include informal training tools and social tools, developing a new learning technology and experience. Docebo is made of a core set of functionalities that are enough to start an eLearning project in minutes. More functionality can be added by installing apps from an app library, which is as easy as adding an app on a smartphone. Unlike monolithic systems, Docebo’s modular approach enables the system to seamlessly scale with the customer’s needs both in terms of functionality and in terms of number of users.

Game-Based Roadside Criminal Interdiction Exercise by C² Technologies

The federal government asked C² Technologies to build a Roadside Criminal Interdiction Exercise that would go beyond the instructor-led classroom and have the ability to be designed and developed by a small team. C² Technologies responded with a serious game as a student-driven standalone training component and as an instructor-led tool for presenting content to students.

Is Your Technology Keeping You Out of Compliance?

If your organization is like most, keeping your workforce in compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies is a strategic imperative. And, while training is an important part of the puzzle, it’s one of many pieces you’ll need to put in place to build an effective workforce compliance program. Managing all of these pieces and the complexity they bring can be overwhelming without the right technology in place. In this webinar, David Wentworth, Principal Analyst with Brandon Hall Group, and Wendy Miller, VP of Customer Success at Compli, look into the complex landscape of workforce compliance and the effective tools for delivering it.

Why Women Aren’t Leading Organizations and How to Fix It

Gender equality has long been a challenge for organizations worldwide. In spite of awareness efforts and education a challenging environment still exists for women in the workplace. During this webinar, Brandon Hall Group COO Rachel Cooke and Kelly Watson, Managing Partner of Orange Grove Consulting, examined Brandon Hall Group research findings and suggested paths for organizations to follow to improve their standing. The bottom line is that while the current state isn’t optimistic, there are opportunities to mitigate the issue and help level the playing field for women in leadership roles across the globe.

Android Fragmentation is Still a Thing

Not too long ago, the whole iOS/Android battle was viewed through much the same lens as the VHS/BetaMax wars. For those too young to remember, there were two competing formats from video cassette recorders in the ‘80s, JVC’s VHS and Sony’s Betamax. VHS ultimately won, leaving many owners of Sony technology in the lurch. This history is relevant because as Apple and Google battled for smartphone supremacy, people sat back and waited to see which platform would dominate. This prevented other technology companies from embracing mobile as a strategic delivery model for all kinds of digital content. Had we the foresight to envision the “Bring Your Own Device” environment of today, complete with responsive/adaptive web design, we might be much further along the patch of mobile computing than we are.
