Podcast with Kimberly Williams, CEO of Absorb Software
The L&D Landscape: Navigating Challenges and Opportunities
Today’s learning and development (L&D) professionals face myriad challenges. From economic uncertainties to skill gaps and the integration of AI, the L&D landscape is in constant flux. In this Brandon Hall Group™ Excellence at Work Podcast, COO Rachel Cooke sits down with Kimberly Williams, CEO of Absorb Software to gain insights into these challenges and how L&D teams can navigate them successfully by helping to elevate the role of learning through a strategic learning system.
Topics include:
- Economic Fluctuations: The current macroeconomic climate makes it challenging for L&D professionals to secure budgets for essential learning technologies.
- The Skill Gap: The widening skill gap across industries poses a significant challenge. Companies must proactively address this issue by investing in upskilling and reskilling their workforce.
- Generational Diversity: The modern workplace comprises a diverse mix of generations, each with unique expectations and learning styles. Creating an inclusive environment that caters to everyone’s needs is crucial.
- DEI Initiatives: The topic of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) can be polarizing. However, addressing DEI challenges is essential for fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Hybrid and Remote Work: The rise of hybrid and remote work models has transformed the onboarding process. L&D leaders must adapt their strategies to ensure new hires feel connected and engaged, regardless of their location.
- The Rise of AI: Artificial intelligence presents both opportunities and threats to the L&D field. While AI can automate routine tasks and personalize learning experiences, it also raises concerns about job displacement.
The L&D landscape is complex and ever-evolving. However, by proactively addressing challenges and embracing opportunities, L&D professionals can play a pivotal role in driving business success. Kimberly Williams’ insights provide valuable guidance for navigating the L&D landscape and ensuring that organizations are equipped to thrive in the face of change.
