The Human Side of Transformation:
What Transform HR 2026 Revealed About Leading Through Change

At Transform HR Conference 2026 in Las Vegas, the theme was clear from the start: The Human + AI Equation.

I had the opportunity to attend and represent Brandon Hall Group™ alongside my colleagues, including Mike Cooke, Chief Executive Officer and Principal Analyst; Javier Perez, Director of Client Strategy; and David Forry, Senior Vice President and Principal Analyst.

But what stood out most to me over the course of the event was not just the conversation around AI.

It was the honesty.

The honesty about what it actually means to lead people through change while the ground beneath them is shifting.

Because while technology is accelerating at an unprecedented pace, the human experience of that change is far more complex, and far less often addressed with the same urgency.

A Different Kind of Conversation

Across general sessions, panels, and side conversations, one pattern became clear:

We are not struggling to understand what AI can do.

We are struggling with how it changes what it means to be human at work.

That tension showed up in different ways throughout the event.

In some rooms, it looked like excitement around innovation and efficiency.

In others, it showed up as uncertainty, identity shifts, and quiet questions that many employees are asking but few leaders are fully addressing:

What does my role mean now?

Where do I add value?

How do I grow in a system that is changing faster than I can define it?

These are not technical questions.

They are human ones.

And they require leadership, not just solutions.

Moderating the Moment: Two Conversations That Matter

I had the opportunity to moderate two panels during the conference, and while they approached different topics, they ultimately pointed to the same underlying truth:

The future of work will be shaped not just by what we build, but by how we lead people through it.

The first panel, “The Exit Economy and the Disproportionate Toll on Black Women,” brought together Tiersa Hall, CEO and Founder of Impactful Imprints; and Jessica Winder, Chief People Officer at Winder Law Firm.

This was one of the most raw and necessary conversations I’ve been part of on stage.

It was not theoretical.

It was a real examination of what happens when systems, policies and workforce shifts disproportionately impact Black women and what organizations stand to lose as a result.

The data tells part of the story.

But what made the conversation powerful was the lived experience behind it.

It was a reminder that workforce trends are not abstract.

They are deeply personal.

And when leaders fail to acknowledge that, they don’t just lose talent. They lose trust, perspective and long-term value.

The second panel, “What is a Job Now? Rethinking Work, Purpose, and Value in the Age of Algorithmic Tools,” featured an incredible group of leaders navigating this shift in real time, including June Dinitz, Head of People for USA and Canada at EPAM Systems; Amy Reichanadter, Chief People Officer at Databricks; and Brian Christman, Chief People Officer at Circle.

Here, the conversation shifted from impact to execution.

What does it actually look like to integrate AI into the workforce in a way that maintains clarity, purpose, and trust?

What I appreciated most was the realism in the room.

There was no over-simplification.

These leaders openly shared how they are navigating implementation in real time, balancing scalability with human-centered design and making decisions without a perfect roadmap.

That level of transparency matters.

Because it reflects the reality most organizations are operating in today.

When Insight Meets Experience

Across both panels, I intentionally grounded the conversation in Brandon Hall Group™ research and data.

But what became clear in the feedback, both during and after the sessions, was this:

When insight is connected to real experience, the conversation shifts.

It moves from interesting to impactful.

From theory to application.

From observation to action.

And that is where real change begins.

Beyond the Stage: Experiencing the Future of HR

Outside of the sessions, the broader experience at Transform HR reinforced many of these same themes.

The expo floor and live labs created space for hands-on interaction with emerging technologies, allowing leaders to move beyond concept and into application.

General sessions challenged surface-level narratives and pushed deeper into what AI adoption actually requires from organizations.

And the networking environment was intentionally designed, making it easier to move beyond transactional conversations and into meaningful connections, with leaders, practitioners, and innovators across the HR ecosystem.

Even in those informal moments, a consistent message surfaced:

Leaders are not just trying to keep up with change.

They are trying to make sense of it in a way that works for their people.

Leadership in a Time of Redefinition

One of the most powerful takeaways from the event is that we are in a period of redefinition, not just of work, but of leadership itself.

We often talk about transformation in terms of systems, tools, and strategy.

But what Transform HR made clear is that transformation is also about how leaders show up.

How they communicate through uncertainty.

How they build trust while navigating change.

Because innovation does not happen in environments where people feel unsafe, unheard, or unclear about their role.

It happens where there is psychological safety, clarity of purpose, and leadership that is willing to engage with both the technical and human sides of change.

A Personal Reflection

As I reflect on my time at Transform HR, including the opportunity to connect with leaders across industries and even briefly meet Van Jones, what stays with me most is this:

We are not just preparing organizations for the future of work.

We are actively shaping how people experience it.

And that responsibility is bigger than any single technology.

It requires leaders who are willing to acknowledge complexity, engage in difficult conversations, and lead with both strategy and humanity.

Because the future of work will not be defined by AI alone.

It will be defined by how we choose to lead through it.
