Akamai Technologies WIns 2021 Brandon Hall Group Awards for Excellence in Human Capital Management

Company lauded for aspects of its global leadership development and learning programs

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., October 14, 2021Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the world’s most trusted solution for protecting and delivering digital experiences, today announced the company has won two awards for excellence in human capital management, as recognized by the Brandon Hall Group, a research and analyst firm that delivers research-based solutions to empower excellence in organizations.

The 2021 Brandon Hall Group Human Capital Management (HCM) Excellence Awards are given for work in learning and development, talent management, leadership development, talent acquisition, human resources, sales performance, diversity, equity and inclusion, and future of Work. Akamai won a silver award for excellence in ‘Best Advance in Measuring the Impact of Leadership Development; and a bronze award for ‘Excellence in Learning’ in the category ‘Best Use of Games or Simulations for Learning.’

Akamai Technologies partnered with PotentialSquared to win ‘Best Advance in Measuring the Impact of Leadership Development.’ Akamai offers two distinct leadership development programs — The Leadership Academy and an Advanced Leadership Academy — that focus on driving measurable outcomes of strong leadership behaviors. Academy participants partake in a robust 360° questionnaire process where they have the opportunity to measure their leadership impact and behaviors from the start of their learning journey to the end. At the end of the six month journey, participants and their raters receive an invitation to complete a short ‘pulse’ survey to measure progress and track behavior change. In this survey, digital value stories are captured directly from the participants and their raters to highlight actual examples of business impact. These are specific examples of how participants have positively changed their behavior, found new and effective ways of working, and adjusted their own personal style as a result of participating in the Leadership Academy experience. Since inception in 2016, nearly 1000 leaders have graduated from the academies and successfully driven positive change within their teams, themselves, and the broader organization.

Akamai Technologies partnered with SkillsCafe to win a bronze award for ‘Excellence in Learning’ in the category ‘Best Use of Games or Simulations for Learning.’ Akamai offers a gamified, bite-sized learning platform called ‘Flogames’ that enables participants to learn at their own pace. It is designed to provide immersive, interactive and realistic workplace scenarios for employees to learn within 10–15 minutes. Flogames can be adapted as a plug and play, bite-sized learning solution for need-based, curriculum-based, and customized learning requirements. In 2020, Akamai India used Flogames to create a week-long, space-themed online competitive learning experience as part of its annual ‘Akamai People Experience’ (APEX) career expo that included a mix of micro-games, simulations and short quizzes, based on real-world scenarios focused on ‘Owning Your Career Development.’

Entries were evaluated by a panel of veteran, independent senior industry experts, Brandon Hall Group analysts and executives based upon these criteria: fit the need, design of the program, functionality, innovation and overall measurable benefits. Excellence award winners are scheduled to be honored at Brandon Hall Group’s HCM Excellence Conference, February 1-3, 2022, at the Hilton West Palm Beach, Florida. Select winners also will serve as presenters in breakout sessions, sharing their leading practices during the conference.
