These case studies – winners of 2015 Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards – were released for publication this week:
Leadership Excellence Acceleration Program (LEAP) for SAP Women
This awards case study focuses on SAP’s Leadership Excellence Acceleration Program (LEAP), a rich, 18‐month development journey for women with the potential and desire to move into new or more senior people management roles. The initiative earned a Gold Award for Best Unique or Innovative Leadership Development Program in the 2015 Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards.
Outsourcing to Improve Tuition Assistance Administration at Boeing
This awards case study focuses on Boeing’s effort to modernize and improve its tuition assistance program, which serves 168,000 employees and was plagued by outmoded technology. Boeing outsourced to GP strategies, which led to increased program participation while reducing costs by 11% over one year and also realizing a 12% increase in the customer satisfaction index. This initiative won a Gold Award for Best Advance in Benefits and Administration Strategy in the 2015 Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards.
Leadership Development at Tata Consultancy Services
This case study highlights the leadership development program, Ascent, developed by Tata Consultancy Services. TCS is a $15 billion, Mumbai-based IT, consulting, and business services firm. The program instills a set of core competencies for leaders and equips managers with the skills they need to succeed. This earned Tata a Gold Award for Best Unique or Innovative Leadership Development Program in the 2015 Excellence Awards.
Managing a Business-Focused Learning Function at Siemens
Through acquisitions and growth, Siemens created the Global Product Education team as a way to support the organization’s learning product knowledge needs. With a mission to provide innovative solutions for global education, the Siemens GPE team knows how to align its services with the needs of the business and stakeholders. The learning team is proving its value to the organization through cost reductions and time savings on multiple projects, with one initiative saving the organization a projected amount of $700,000 per year. This earned Siemens a Silver Award for Best Learning Team in the 2015 Excellence Awards.
Creating a Clear Path to Development at AB Sciex
This awards case study showcases efforts by life sciences company AB Sciex to create and implement a well‐designed competency model to serve as a strategic
foundation to communicate corporate priorities and values to all employees. The initiative earned a Bronze Award for Competency Management in the 2015 Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards.
How US Government Organizations Use Enterprise Learning Technology
Even government institutions need to track, manage, and direct learning, and this case study explores how the US Department of Agriculture uses Skillsoft to train its employees. Critical USDA-wide workforce development initiatives are addressed through delivery of Skillsoft course, book and video solutions to USDA’s geographically dispersed employees. USDA has shown a cost avoidance of $74 million in the last three years alone. This earned the organization a Bronze Award for Best Learning Technology Implementation in the 2015 Excellence Awards.

Consumer Trends and HCM Technology Selection
When Brandon Hall Group asked global participants in our recent Employment Value Proposition survey whether their HR technology makes life easier by providing access to relevant information to help employees manage their career, the response was a dismal 13%. About one in 10 companies believes HR technology is truly making life easier for employees, and that is a problem, because employees have high expectations for the technology they use.
