After completing 8 million video interviews across 180 countries and launching their AI-powered video assessment solution, you might think HireVue would simply focus on building the business for those solutions. But HireVue has wider horizons in sight.
HireVue recently acquired MindX, an AI-powered game-based assessment provider; launched pre-built assessments incorporating game-based and video assessments; and integrated all these solutions within their platform, including pre-built assessments for call center, sale and retail positions. Plus, they have a library of coding challenges for software developers.
At this year’s HireVue Horizon conference, their messages were to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) and understand it will improve hiring outcomes, the candidate and recruiter experience and will help eliminate the tedium of interview scheduling, resume review and other tasks. Recruiters can focus more on candidate-relationship building among their other responsibilities.
Many of the conference sessions were forward-looking. Mike Walsh, CEO of Tomorrow, a futurist, gave a keynote on “Reinventing Leadership for the Age of Machine Intelligence.” He spoke about the move to natural interfaces (voice and facial recognition); anticipation of intentions and personalization (purchases); and wearable sensors influencing behavior (think exercise). He also explained how automation will open more opportunities for people. For example, even with the proliferation of ATMs, there are now more bank tellers responsible for relationship building.
Assessments are critical to making better hiring decisions. According to Brandon Hall Group’s 2018 research, Assessing Assessments: Value and Impact, organizations using pre-hire assessments are nearly 40% more likely than their cohorts to see improvement in quality of hire and employee retention. I look forward to seeing how HireVue continues to rapidly innovate in the assessment space. Their horizon is unlimited.
