L&D Must Be the Driving Force in Developing an Agile Workforce

The coronavirus pandemic altered the evolution of learning from formal, event-based training to continuous, performance-focused learning into overdrive.

Everything in the workplace is changing at an unprecedented pace. Organizations now expect L&D to be the driving force for developing an agile workforce. In fact, Brandon Hall Group research shows that:

  • L&D has had a moderate or significant impact on 62% of organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • 68% of organizations have leveraged learning moderately or significantly to reskill employees during the pandemic.

Going forward, 60% of organizations see replacing in-person training content as a major challenge and 52% say the same about reskilling in-person instructors for virtual environments, BHG research shows.

While L&D made a business impact during this unprecedented time, more challenges lie ahead. That is why Brandon Hall Group is launching the Certified Learning Strategist program. The future will be complex. Our research shows most organizations will deploy flex scheduling and keep significant portions of the workforce working remotely at least part-time. Two-thirds of organizations intend to increase digital learning but also plan to keep the learning budget flat or reduce it.
