Join our Community of Excellence: Apply for HCM Excellence Awards by April 17

We are less than one month away from our HCM Excellence Awards Program entry deadline and I’m so pleased with the entries that we have been receiving so far. There are a lot of great companies focused on the right things to develop their people and create a business impact across all aspects of the organization.

Last month I presented a webinar with our Senior Learning Analyst, David Wentworth, as we shared some examples from 2014.  In the last quarter of 2014 we conducted a survey to capture HCM Business Priorities for 2015. During our webinar, we spoke about creating a stronger link between learning and performance, which was one of the top six critical areas that HCM Business Leaders were focused on to drive greater business results in 2015.  In 2014, our award applications also supported this premise.

Whether the entries were about onboarding, leadership, performance support, or a basic learning or talent program, they offered a variety of approaches such as social, mobile, video conferencing, video, e-learning, instructor-led training, gaming, and others. This diversity is necessary to support and deliver effective development opportunities to today’s workforce (and tomorrow’s), which is multi-generational, diverse, global, and geographically dispersed.

Has your team created or implemented a leading program or enabling technology to help streamline, save costs, and improve productivity within your organization?

Are you an HCM solution provider that has offered incredible technologies to your client organizations?

Then we want to hear from you and invite you to apply for Brandon Hall Group’s 2015 HCM Excellence Awards Program. Deadline is April 17, 2015.

Creating Learning Experiences

The most successful companies are focused are creating more opportunities by providing experiences rather than just formal instruction.

The easiest way to improve the link between learning and performance is to have a blended learning strategy – 70% on the job activity, 20% informal learning and 10% formal learning

70:20:10 has been around for a long time but we are just starting to understand how important this framework is to creating a learning program that produces breakthrough individual and organizational performance.

Ernst and Young received a gold award in 2014 for Best Learning Program Supporting a Change Transformation. EY is an organization that exemplifies how learning can be linked to performance – they developed a Performance Agenda Program that aligned the consulting practice and learning team by providing a successful blended learning model. The results were nothing less than fantastic – they have generated incremental sales of $139 million since the kickoff of the program.
