LCMS Technology: Powerful Learning Content Management

David: How does LCMS technology offer a unique advantage for the development and delivery of content?

Michael: As we discussed previously, the secret sauce is having a content management system capability built into your authoring and deployment technology.  The LCMS offers the ability to source, manage, create and deploy learning in a variety of formats to meet a variety of learning needs at a speed that keeps learning on pace with your business requirements.

LCMS technology has been perfected to be easy to implement and easy to use which makes it very attractive to a learning team that is looking to technology to streamline their content development and delivery process.

LCMS technology offers the flexibility, adaptability and scale to a learning organization that wishes to drive a stronger link between learning and performance.

In the end, learning is about driving individual and organizational performance.  To meet this goal, learning must be immediately available, easily digestible and highly relevant.  LCMS technology provides a unique opportunity to have all three of these critical success factors to be met with one technology.

Dawn: There are a lot of advantages to Content Management for Learning & Development, but I am going to focus on four:

  1. Instructional designers write once to deliver in multiple formats, reducing duplicate and redundant content
    • The industry needs to move to a single-source platform for authoring content and delivery of that content anywhere, anytime, any device from the cloud. And it’s only content management that will do that for you.
  2. Strong CM practices allow your learners can find your content easily and effectively.
    • When move past rapid authoring to single-source content development, content becomes searchable at a granular level, it can be pushed or pulled and it can be found in the context of the situation at hand, be it location, task, role, really any attribute.
  3. Learners can access what they need anytime and on any device, at the point of need and at the point of performance
    • LCM allows you to publish content to the cloud and deliver to any application, any device, any system. Not just coursed from and LMS
  4. Leaders can analyze content, so you know what learning content performs and what doesn’t
    • CM let’s you understand how effective your learning content is.
    • Analyzing the impact of learning on your organization, as well as aligning your content strategy to your areas of highest need, is paramount. When done right, it has a huge potential to impact the business.
